Middle School Academics
Learning in Lake Travis STEM Academy’s middle school is experiential: students apply skills to collaborative projects and engineering challenges. Frequent field experiences extend learning beyond the classroom.
Project-based learning creates opportunities for students to make choices, apply strengths, gain confidence and forge their identities.
Since we are a four-day academy, students and families have the freedom to choose how they learn each Friday, whether it be through at-home learning activities offered on our Friday Choice Board or other experiential opportunities in the community.
Project-Based Learning
Project-based learning allows students opportunities to
collaborate, communicate and solve problems creatively.
Skill building is motivated through an understanding of
potential applications.
High School
Credit
Middle school students may earn advanced placement and take high school courses by demonstrating mastery of middle school subject-area standards.
Friday Choice Board
Every Friday, students take control over their learning
by choosing activities to complete outside of school.
These choices are documented and communicated with
the school to provide accountability.
Middle School Community and Culture
Middle school students feel supported by our culture of acceptance and emphasis on personal growth. Small class sizes lead to strong bonds between classmates and supportive relationships with teachers.
Our four-day school week, reduced homework and lack of high-stakes assessments lead to reduced stress and more enjoyment.
Our chapter of the National Junior Honor Society contributes to the planning of many community events throughout the school year, such as spirit week, fundraising and activities for big and little buddies.
